5ª Conferência Estadual de Promoção da Igualdade Racial do Estado do Pará
O Movimento Quilombola da Regional Tocantina vem a público manifestar seu mais profundo repúdio às declarações do Governador Helder Barbalho em defesa do derrocamento do Pedral do Lourenço, da escavação do Rio Tocantins e da construção da PA-368 (Transmarajo). Tais obras representam uma grave ameaça socioambiental, cultural e territorial para os povos e comunidades tradicionais da região.
Denunciamos que esses empreendimentos vêm sendo impostos sem a realização da Consulta Prévia, Livre e Informada, conforme assegurado pela Convenção 169 da OIT, da qual o Brasil é signatário. O descumprimento desse direito configura uma grave violação às garantias fundamentais dos povos indígenas, quilombolas e ribeirinhos, diretamente impactados por tais projetos.
O Pedral do Lourenço e o Rio Tocantins não são apenas espaços de interesse econômico: são territórios de vida, memória, ancestralidade e biodiversidade. A destruição dessas áreas em nome de interesses empresariais e governamentais ignora a existência de populações tradicionais que há séculos resistem e preservam a floresta, os rios e a sociobiodiversidade da Amazônia.
Reafirmamos nossa posição contrária a qualquer obra que desrespeite os direitos constitucionais, ambientais e territoriais das comunidades quilombolas e demais povos tradicionais. Exigimos que o Governo do Estado do Pará e o Governo Federal cumpram seus deveres legais e internacionais, garantindo a participação efetiva das populações afetadas em todas as decisões que dizem respeito a seus modos de vida e ao futuro de seus territórios.
O Movimento Quilombola da Regional Tocantina seguirá vigilante, mobilizado e em luta permanente em defesa de nossos territórios, do Rio Tocantins, da vida e da justiça socioambiental.
